Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has showered Paul Onuachu with praise after Nigeria beat Uganda 3-1 in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations match on Tuesday.

Paul Onuachu scored his first goal in the Afcon tournament, and received cheers.

Osimhen talked to reporters in the mixed zone about Onuachu’s role and said, “Paul Onuachu is family to me. I’ve known Paul for so many years. I’m happy about his first goal and how well he played.”

Speaking more about the team’s goal, Osimhen, who led Nigeria as captain on Tuesday, said, “Honestly, we don’t talk about clubs because this is a national team mission.”

Osimhen said that right now, everyone’s attention is on the team they will play in the round of 16.

He said, “We only focus on the Super Eagles and the games, so for me, we just talk about our next match in the round of 16.”

Nigeria ended their group stage with a win, getting nine points from three matches and moving to the top of Group C, which qualified them for the next round.
