United Kingdom-based Nigerian recording artist, audio engineer and songwriter, Olumide D’Goke, aka Lumiegee, is celebrating a decade in the music industry, marking 10 years of steady growth, experimentation, and artistic evolution.
The milestone, spanning 2015 to 2025, reflects Lumiegee’s journey from a budding artiste to an emerging force carving a niche in contemporary African music.
He burst onto the scene in 2015 with his debut single, ‘Love Miami’, a vibrant track that introduced his energetic sound and creative vision. The same year, he followed up with ‘Whynogplay’, which later received a music video directed by Lexten, expanding its reach.
Lumiegee continued to build his reputation with the culturally infused track ‘Amoniseni’ in 2017, and in 2018, he released ‘Fight4me’ and ‘If U Fit’, singles that highlighted his lyrical depth and versatility.
In 2019, he showcased his artistic growth with the EP ‘Love Matters’, a collection that marked a significant expansion in both sound and storytelling. This was followed in 2020 by the music video for ‘Lost of Words’, which demonstrated more mature production values and emotional depth.
Lumiegee remained relevant in 2021 with the release of ‘BBG (Big Bootie Gurl)’, before returning in 2025 with ‘Yehba’ and ‘Malofo’.
The artiste began his musical journey in a church choir before relocating to the UK, where he honed his craft. His signature sound blends Afropop, R&B, soul, and world music, drawing inspiration from legends such as King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti, Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, and Common; as well as contemporary stars including Burna Boy and Wizkid.
