Stephen Warnock has described former Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca as volatile following rumours he might be replacing Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
He said the Italian is an unnecessary risk.
Maresca recently left Chelsea, and now his name is being considered as a possible replacement for Amorim at United.
Maresca had a good 18-month period at Stamford Bridge, where he helped the team win the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
During his time there, he also managed to get the team to fourth place in the league during his only full season with the club.
Like Amorim, Maresca also left his position after having a disagreement with the top club officials, and Warnock mentioned that this reason alone would make him hesitant to bring the 45-year-old to Old Trafford.
“It’s interesting, isn’t it? the former Leeds United man said to Metro.
“All these managers know exactly what they’re getting into when they sign up, then win a few games and start feeling more confident and powerful.
“And then, out of nowhere, they want everything to change and they want even more power.
“I think it was a little different with Maresca. What we’re hearing now is about the sports science team and how they decide when players can stay on the field and when they need to take a break.
“But from United’s perspective, do they want another volatile manager who ends up at press conferences acting the same way?
“If they mess up again and the club doesn’t change, it might take another 10 years before they start fixing things. So, he’s not my favorite, but I can definitely understand why he might be on someone’s list of managers who could take over at United,” Warnock said.
