Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has shared positive news about his team ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Atlético Madrid.
Buruk said Victor Osimhen is focused and ready to return to action after completing his Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Osimhen returned to Galatasaray training on Monday night after helping Nigeria secure the bronze medal at the tournament on Saturday.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Buruk noted that the Nigerian striker has shown strong determination and focus since rejoining the squad.
“Osimhen came to the team yesterday and trained with the group. He clearly showed that he wanted to be here and was very focused,” he said.
The Galatasaray manager also revealed that Ismail Jakobs is expected to arrive in Istanbul early on matchday and will be available for selection.
“Ismail Jakobs will arrive in Istanbul early tomorrow and will be part of the squad,” Buruk confirmed.
He added that midfielder Sara will rejoin the team for training and undergo a fitness test later.
Buruk also confirmed that Singo will miss the match, while Arda is sidelined with an injury.
“Singo is not going to be part of our team for this game. Arda also has an injury,” he added.
“Having more players back in the team really lifts everyone’s spirits, including mine,” Buruk said.
Before leaving for AFCON, Osimhen was in impressive form for the Turkish champions in the Champions League, scoring six goals in four matches for the Yellow and Reds.
Buruk is hopeful the Nigerian striker can maintain that form as Galatasaray push to progress further in the competition.
