Popular Nigerian food critic Opeyemi Famakin has raised concerns after alleging that he has been receiving threatening messages from individuals he claims are cultists, following his recent online altercation with socialite Yhemolee.

The controversy began after Opeyemi reviewed a luxury perfume from the business owned by Yhemolee’s wife. While he gave the fragrance a 7.5 out of 10 rating, he openly criticised the quality of the print on the bottle, stressing that it fell short for a product sold at ₦160,000.

The review reportedly angered Yhemolee, who reacted by hurling insults at the food critic, including calling him a “fat fool.”

As the situation escalated online, Opeyemi took to social media to express a more serious concern. In a video that has since gone viral, he claimed that individuals who allegedly identified themselves as members of a confraternity had been sending him threatening messages, warning him for allegedly crossing one of their own.

In the video, Opeyemi stated that he does not belong to any cult group, describing himself as a law-abiding civilian. He questioned why a disagreement on social media would attract such messages and what their true intention might be.

Addressing Nigerians directly, he said:

“Dear Nigerians, if cultists from a particular confratanity are sending you messages, while tagging an individual and stating they will find me for talking about their person, what does it mean? Do they want to Mohbad me? Should I be scared?”

He concluded the video by cursing the alleged cult group and reiterating that he remained unbothered despite the ongoing drama.

@OyinAtiBode penned:”@jidesanwoolu you wouldn’t keep quiet till they assassinate this young man, would you? I think the best thing would be to invite Yemolee and call him to order so he understands the consequences if anything happens to this gentleman after he already mentioned his name.”

@buchishine1 added:”This guy is smart. If anything happens to him, na person way talk say hand go touch am them go carry “

@Timi_Dont_Talk stated:”Watin concern Nigerians? 😂😂 you don go collect ads from Caesar, give him what belongs to him.”
