Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and Tobi Makinde, known for playing her personal assistant in Jenifa’s Diary, have sparked discussions online following a viral video from a recent event.
The pair, who developed a close working relationship while starring in the hit series with Makinde portraying Akindele’s devoted aide have long been seen as having a strong bond. In a 2024 interview, Makinde even referred to Akindele as his mentor and expressed his desire to emulate her success.
However, recent footage from Timini’s film premiere appears to challenge that narrative. In the clip, the actors are seen standing several feet apart without exchanging greetings. At one point, Akindele seems to glance in Makinde’s direction, yet no interaction takes place on camera.
Speculation about tension between them had surfaced earlier. Fans noted that Makinde did not promote Akindele’s project A Tribe Called Judah, Behind the Scenes online. Additionally, Akindele was absent from Makinde’s wedding a few weeks ago and did not post a public congratulatory message.
These events have led fans to question the current state of their relationship, which once seemed close and supportive. Reactions to the viral video were mixed. Some suggested the two might have interacted privately off-camera, while others emphasized that a lack of online promotion does not necessarily indicate a falling out.
Still, some viewers believe the absence of public interactions hints at a possible strain in their friendship and have speculated on what may have caused the change in dynamics.
