Arsenal winger Noni Madueke has identified Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina as the most difficult full-back he has faced, crediting the Nigeria international’s blend of physicality and technical quality.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Madueke was asked to name the toughest opponent he has encountered in a wide defensive role. The England international pointed directly to Aina, whom he has faced multiple times in domestic competition.
“I’m going to give Ola Aina his flowers,” Madueke said. “I’ve played against him a couple of times, he’s always tough. Mad strong, mad physical. But he’s also good on the ball. Some people probably wouldn’t give him the credit for that.”
Defensive reputation reinforced
Aina has built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most consistent right-backs, particularly during the 2024/25 campaign when he played a central role in helping Nottingham Forest secure Europa League qualification.
Although a hamstring injury sidelined him for 117 days this season, limiting his involvement, his performances when available have maintained that standing.
Known for his defensive awareness and composure in possession, Aina has combined recovery pace with strong tactical discipline.
Madueke’s endorsement carries weight given his profile as one of the league’s most direct attacking threats.
The 23-year-old, who joined Arsenal in the summer, is widely recognised for his speed and ability to isolate defenders in one-on-one situations.
