Popular comedian Mr Jollof has reignited conversation online after defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and criticizing Nigerians who question his achievements since taking office in 2023.
In a video that quickly gained traction on his Instagram page, Mr Jollof argued that those asking about the President’s accomplishments either aren’t paying attention or aren’t genuinely interested in Nigeria’s progress.
He stated:
“To those questioning what President Tinubu has done so far, if you’re unaware of his actions, that’s a problem with your own perspective and with how you view Nigeria’s growth. From day one, he removed the fuel subsidy, which drew widespread criticism. But he warned that the decision would be challenging initially, and ultimately, everyone would benefit.”
Mr Jollof went on to outline what he sees as significant milestones of the administration, citing the autonomy granted to local governments, increased state allocations, and a new student loan program for undergraduates.
He also highlighted improvements in fuel availability, the absence of prolonged strikes by ASUU, and progress in security, emphasizing that positive changes are evident under the current government.
“Local governments now have their autonomy, students can access loans to support their education, and since Tinubu assumed office, we haven’t experienced the typical ASUU strikes,” he added.
His remarks have sparked a mix of reactions online. Some praised his defense and applauded the administration’s reforms, while others remain concerned about the ongoing economic challenges facing the country.
