Turkey: Osimhen should have seen red against Beşiktaş – Yalçın

Beşiktaş head coach, Sergen Yalçın says Victor Osimhen should have been sent off in Saturday night’s Istanbul derby with Galatasaray.

The Black Eagles surrendered their four-game winning streak, going down 1-0 to the defending champions.

Osimhen’s first half strike separated both teams on the night.

The Nigeria international was booked in the sixth minute for colliding with the home team’s goalkeeper, Ersin Destanoğlu.

The 27-year-old was lucky to avoid a second yellow card after deliberately kicking the ball away after the game had stopped.

Yalçın was unhappy with the referee’s decision to overlook the incident, as well as the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, not intervening.

“The main referee might not see it, but you intervene.” That’s why he’s sitting there. Now, Sane should have been sent off in the 20th minute. Osimhen should have been sent off with a second yellow card, that’s for sure. So how is this game going to be played.”

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi featured for Beşiktaş in the keenly contested encounter.
