A Nigerian man, Kola Qossim, has mourned his friend and former tenant, Aishat Gobir, who was allegedly k!lled by her 15-year-old nephew in Kwara State

LIB reported that the incident happened in January , 2026.

The State Commissioner of Police said on January 14, the police received a distress call after the deceased was found in a pool of blood at her residence.

Investigation revealed that Yusuf attacked his aunt while she was bathing using household items, including kitchen knives.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Kola, described the deceased as a woman known for her kindness and humility.

According to him, Yusuf had lost his biological mother when he was 4. Aishat took him into her home, loved and cared for him like her own child.

Kola further disclosed that Yusuf confessed that he had been secretly adding Sniper, a poisonous substance, to Madam Aishat’s food for some time.

“There are moments in life when words feel completely inadequate. This is one of those moments,” he wrote.

My heart is deeply saddened as I reflect on a tragedy that has shaken us all to the core.

What began years ago as a simple landlord–tenant relationship with a woman who once lived in our house gradually grew into something far deeper.

Over time, she stopped being “just a tenant.” She became someone we respected, someone we greeted every day, someone whose presence became part of the rhythm of our home. In every sense of the word, she became family.

Her name was Madam Aishat Gobir. She was humble, calm, and lived peacefully among us.

There was never a moment that gave anyone the slightest reason to imagine that her life would end in such a tragic and brutal way.

On January 14, something terrible happened.

Madam Aishat had already moved out of our house to their new residence, but we still maintained a close relationship.

On that unfortunate day, she was at home having her bath while her husband, who works in Lagos but was around at the time, had stepped out briefly to greet some of his friends.

At home with her was her 15-year-old nephew, Yusuf Gobir, who had been living with her since he was about four years old.

Yusuf had lost his biological mother when he was very young, and Madam Aishat took him into her home and cared for him like her own child.

According to the information that reached us when the distress call came, the boy said he had been sent to buy fuel.

When he returned, he reportedly called his uncle, informing him that Madam Aishat was lying motionless in the bathroom.

When the husband rushed back home, what he met was beyond imagination. Madam Aishat was lying lifeless in a pool of her own blood.

She had been brutally st@bbed and her face was disfigured beyond recognition. It was a horrifying sight that words can hardly describe.

The police were immediately called, and investigation began without delay.

On the instruction of the police, I personally drove her body to the mortuary. That was one of the most painful things I have ever had to do.

Both the husband and the boy, Yusuf, were taken into custody as part of the initial investigation.

That night, I remained at the police station with them because of the closeness we shared with the family.

It was a moment of deep grief and confusion, and we all believed we were dealing with either a case of armed robbery or a targeted attack.

For weeks, questions filled the air with no clear answers. But yesterday, March 6, a painful and shocking truth was uncovered.

After weeks of investigation, it was discovered that the person responsible for this horrific act was Yusuf Gobir, her own nephew, the same boy she had taken into her home, raised, loved, and cared for like her own child.

According to his confession, he admitted that he committed the act and even revealed something more disturbing: he had been secretly adding Sniper, a poisonous substance, to Madam Aishat’s food for some time.

His reason, as he claimed, was that she often scolded him and reprimanded him for coming home late from school.

It is a revelation that has left everyone who knew this family in shock and deep sorrow.
Madam Aishat was a woman who showed compassion and responsibility. She took in a young boy who had lost his mother and gave him shelter, care, and a chance at life.

To imagine that such kindness would end in such a tragic way is something that is difficult for the human mind to process.

I say this with a heavy heart because I was always close to the family. I witnessed their life together, and I know the care and love she extended to that boy.

What has happened has shattered a once happy family and left wounds that may never truly heal.

This painful incident should serve as a sober reminder to all of us about the complexities of human behavior and the importance of vigilance, guidance, and moral upbringing for the younger generation.

As we continue to process this heartbreaking reality, I pray for  May the Almighty forgive her shortcomings, grant her mercy, and grant her eternal rest.

She came into our house years ago as a tenant, but she left our lives as family.

Her kindness, humility, and presence will always be remembered.

May Allah grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus and give the children she left behind, her husband, the family and all of us the strength to bear this painful loss. Allahumma Amen.
