Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, United States of America, failed a food safety inspection in late 2025 after health officials identified several violations in its kitchen and food preparation areas.

According to records from the Chicago Department of Public Health, the hotel’s main kitchen, room service operations and the restaurant Terrace 16 did not pass an inspection carried out on December 17, 2025.

Inspectors reportedly discovered several sanitation and food safety issues during the visit. Among the concerns were small insects in the bar and dishwashing areas, a dishwashing machine that was not properly sanitising equipment, and a prep-area sink that drained wastewater onto the floor.

Officials also noted problems with food storage practices. Perishable food items were reportedly kept at temperatures above safe limits, and some raw shellfish lacked proper sell-by or serve-by date labels, which are required for food safety tracking.

Additional violations cited during the inspection included a cracked lid on an ice machine, a prep cooler with built-up residue, and debris accumulating on the floor beneath a sink. The property, owned by the business empire of Donald Trump, later underwent a follow-up inspection. Records indicate the hotel passed a re-inspection the following week after addressing the cited violations.

Representatives for the hotel had not publicly responded to the inspection findings at the time reports about the failed inspection emerged.
