Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said Nigeria is currently facing greater challenges than when the administration came into power in 2023.

Baba-Ahmed made the statement during an interview on Trust TV, where he assessed the state of the nation, focusing on both the economy and security.Nigerian travel guide

According to him, the situation has worsened, particularly in terms of insecurity, with increasing levels of violence across the country.

“We are in deeper trouble than when this administration came in. Violence has become more severe than anticipated. Three years into the presidency, we are witnessing an escalation in both the pattern and impact of violence on citizens,” he said.

He noted that the administration came into power with promises to address insecurity, improve living conditions, and create a safer environment for Nigerians. However, he argued that those expectations have not been met.

“This was a government that promised to end insecurity, improve lives, and create better conditions for Nigerians. The reality today suggests that these goals have not yet been achieved,” he added.

Baba-Ahmed also referenced the timing of a recent official trip by the President and top government officials to the United Kingdom, describing it as poorly timed given the security situation at home.

He pointed out that the trip came shortly after a deadly attack in Borno State, which he described as one of the most severe incidents in recent times.

According to him, such developments highlight the growing concerns over governance priorities amid ongoing security challenges.
