Pep Guardiola was full of praise after Manchester City’s crucial 2-1 victory over Arsenal, framing the result as a psychological boost rather than a turning point in the title race.

The City manager made it clear that, despite the importance of the win, the bigger picture has not yet shifted completely. He emphasized that Arsenal remain in control at the top of the table, highlighting their points position and goal difference advantage as key factors in the race.

Guardiola summed up his feelings in a blunt and revealing way, saying: “Hope, that game gave us hope. That’s all.”

“Enjoy the moment but the reality is: who is top of the league? We are not. Goal difference, who is better? They are. Step by step. But, of course, we got hope to still extend our chances to fight until the end. “

He added that while the team should enjoy the moment, they must stay grounded, stressing that City are still chasing rather than leading.

He also praised Arsenal’s quality and resilience, pushing back against any narrative that they are fading. Guardiola described them as an “extraordinary team,” pointing to their consistency and physical competitiveness as reasons they have led the league for so long.

The Spaniard highlighted the significance of the result in keeping City alive in the title fight. The win cut the gap to just three points with a game in hand, giving his side a realistic pathway to overtake Arsenal in the closing weeks of the season.
