Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are continuing their legal battle over their French estate, Château Miraval, with new court filings revealing a dispute over when the trial should take place.
According to court documents, Pitt is pushing for the case to be heard sooner, arguing that delays are affecting his ability to enjoy the property. He claimed he has been deprived of “the quiet enjoyment of his home in France” and urged the court to schedule the trial earlier than 2027.
The dispute stems from a lawsuit filed by Pitt in 2022, in which he accused Jolie of selling her stake in the Château Miraval estate to a third party without his consent. He alleged that the new co-owner has been “hostile” and has disrupted the operations of the wine business he spent years developing.
Jolie, however, maintains that she was entitled to sell her share without Pitt’s approval and has opposed efforts to fast-track the proceedings. In her latest filing, she argued there is no justification for accelerating the timeline and instead proposed a trial date in September 2027.
She also challenged Pitt’s claims about disruption, stating he had provided no evidence that his use or enjoyment of the estate had been impacted by the ongoing litigation.
Addressing another argument raised by Pitt, Jolie dismissed his concern that a later trial date could conflict with Jewish High Holidays. She noted that he had not identified any of his legal team who would be affected, despite having multiple lawyers representing him.
Pitt further argued that delays could affect witness availability, citing ageing witnesses and noting that one potential witness has already died. A judge has yet to rule on the dispute over the trial schedule, leaving the timeline for the high-profile case unresolved.
