The Ambassador of Nigeria to South Africa, Temitope Ajayi, has claimed the xenophobic attacks Nigerians and other foreign nations have faced in South Africa have been brought under countrol.

In a chat with Channels TV this morning April 27, Ajayi said Nigerians are not under any seige in South Africa. According to him, officials of both countries are working to ensure the situation never repeats itself again.

‘’Right now, Nigerians are not under seige in South Africa. The situation is currently under control. The two government are working on it. The priority right now is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every citizen including foreigners.”
Ajayi described the recent Xenophobic attacks by South Africans on foreigners including Nigerians as ‘’isolated tension.’’

‘’What we are seeing now is isolated tension. and that is why we call for caution. In terms of direct att@cked siege on Nigerians, that is not taking place right now. There have been concerns in terms of foreigners being targets but the government has come out to issue a statement on that, cautioning people against targeting foreigners and Xenophobic practices

I am Pretoria right now and the situation is relatively calm. Also in Johannesburg. What we had before was isolated happenings in Kwazulu-Natal in Durban which was contained and which informed the prompt response from the government”
