Outgoing Real Madrid interim manager, Alvaro Arbeloa, has conveyed a farewell message to forward, Gonzalo Garcia.
The Spaniard observed as his team achieve a 4-2 victory over Athletic Club on the concluding day of the 2025/26 LaLiga season during his final match in charge.
Arbeloa assumed the role at Real Madrid following the club’s separation from Xabi Alonso in January.
Nevertheless, he was unable to lead Real Madrid to triumph in either the Champions League or LaLiga.
Los Blancos faced elimination by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, while their 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the recent El Clasico served as the final blow to their league title aspirations.
Real Madrid has now completed two consecutive seasons without securing a trophy, prompting club president, Florentino Perez to initiate a change.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly poised to take over as head coach this summer.
Before the match against Athletic, Arbeloa announced his decision to depart from the club.
Following the season’s final game, several Real Madrid players expressed their farewell messages to the coach.
Gonzalo Garcia, who netted the opening goal against Athletic Club, shared on Instagram:
“Mister Arbeloa, I am immensely grateful for everything you have imparted to me over these past years. It has been a privilege to serve under you both in the academy and in the first team.
“I wish you and your entire staff the very best; you truly deserve it!”
In response to Garcia, Arbeloa admitted he wished he had treated the striker differently. He also emphasized that Garcia means more to him than just being a player.
Arbeloa stated, “Thank you so much, Gon. You’ve been much more than just a player for me. I wish I had been more fair with you. Go show all your worth.”
Garcia recorded six goals and provided an assist in 30 LaLiga appearances this season.
