Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has publicly stated that French defender Ibrahima Konaté will be his first signing of the summer if he is re-elected in the club’s presidential elections this weekend.
Pérez made the announcement during an interview with Spanish media, declaring that Konaté will play for Real Madrid next season. He hinted that the club will sign more high-profile defensive reinforcements are also on the way.
The 27-year-old centre-back is available on a free transfer after leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract on June 30, 2026. Reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid have already reached an agreement with the player, with only the formal announcement remaining.
