The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party (Nigeria) is set for a decisive internal meeting as it prepares to finalize its lineup for the 2027 elections.

The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has scheduled a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting for June 11 to ratify the outcomes of primary elections recently held across the country.

National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa announced in a statement that the NEC will also approve the list of candidates who emerged from the primaries for onward submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.

The statement added that certificates of return will be issued to successful candidates for presidential, governorship, senatorial, and House of Representatives seats immediately after the NEC ratifies the primary results.

Asogwa described the upcoming meeting as strategically significant, noting it will be the first NEC session since the party’s convention and an important step in its preparations and mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Labour Party had conducted its nationwide primaries on May 30, and subsequently announced governance expert and policy strategist Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
