Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have rescued four teenage girls who were abducted in Fika Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim disclosed this in a statement on Monday, 29th June, 2026.

According to the PPRO, the Fika Divisional Headquarters received a distress call reporting that unidentified armed persons attacked Didim village on June 28 and abducted the victims, aged between 15 and 17 years.

Abdulkarim said police operatives, working in collaboration with local vigilantes, immediately launched a rescue operation.

The operation led to the safe rescue of the victims.

He added that the rescued girls were taken to the Kukar Hadu Primary Healthcare Centre, where they received medical examination before being reunited with their families.

“The Yobe State Police Command has recorded another operational success in the fight against criminal activities in the State, following the rescue of four female victims who were abducted in an attempted kidnapping incident in Fika Local Government Area,” the statement read.

“On 28th June, 2026, at about 1423hrs, Fika Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call reporting that unidentified persons attacked and abducted four young females at Didim Village, Fika Area.

“The victims, all females and minors/young persons, were aged between 15 and 17 years.

“Upon receiving the report, police operatives attached to Kukar Gadu Outstation, in collaboration with local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised and launched a rescue operation.

“Reinforcement from the Division was deployed, leading to the successful rescue of all four victims unhurt.

“The rescued victims were immediately taken to Kukar Gadu Primary Health Care Centre for medical examination and necessary support before being reunited with their families.

“Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the criminal syndicate responsible for the attack, as the Command intensifies its operations to bring them to justice.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin psc, mspsp, has directed sustained and intelligence-led operations to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.

“The CP further reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the State, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide the Police with credible and timely information on suspicious persons, movements, or vehicles.”
