Former Manchester City player, Gareth Barry has said that striker, Erling Haaland will inevitably leave the club at some point in the future.
The Norwegian international has been with the team since 2022 and is under contract until 2034.
Barry discussed Haaland’s future with GOAL, predicting that a transfer will become appealing to him in due course as he seeks a new challenge.
He emphasised that the next two years will be crucial, as the club’s performance during this period will influence whether the striker considers a move.
“It is inevitable that Erling Haaland will leave Man City one day. Although Haaland’s connection with City is significant, which will keep him there for the time being, he is not the type to rock the boat like many other players do.
“I believe that if City’s dominance diminishes and trophies become scarce, it will intensify the speculation. It is only natural to desire a new challenge, and I am confident that Haaland will feel the same way,” he said.
Erling Haaland is widely considered one of the best strikers in the world, having netted 162 goals in 200 appearances for Manchester City since his arrival, while winning nine trophies.
He signed a substantial 10-year contract with the club in 2024, but the departure of Pep Guardiola this summer may prompt him to contemplate leaving.
Haaland has been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona since establishing himself as a world-class striker.
