A court has rejected the bail application filed by Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, in connection with the ongoing criminal case involving the death of late Favour.
The development was disclosed by lawyer Awele Ideal, who is representing Favour’s family in the case on a pro bono basis. She announced the court’s decision in an Instagram post on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
According to Awele, Odogwu Asaba’s legal team submitted the bail application about three weeks ago, after which her office filed a response.
The application was heard in court on Tuesday, but the judge ultimately declined the request for bail.
Following the ruling, Ogbonna will remain in custody at the Ogwashi Uku Maximum Correctional Centre pending further proceedings in the case.
Awele also reiterated her commitment to the late Favour’s family, stating that she has been handling the matter without charging professional fees. She said her support goes beyond legal representation, as she has also provided financial assistance to ensure the case is properly pursued.
In her statement, the lawyer invoked the legal maxim, “Fiat Justitia Ruat Caelum,” which means “let justice be done though the heavens fall,” to express her determination to see the case through.
“I still hold the brief of this case for late Favour’s family on Probono basis rendering my legal services and financial support to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” she wrote.
Awele added that she would continue to keep the public informed about developments in the case as proceedings continue.
