Cooking gas and diesel are now more expensive in Nigeria, putting extra pressure on families and businesses.

Nigerians are facing higher costs as cooking gas and diesel prices continue rising.

Cooking gas jumped 25 percent to 1,500 naira per kilogramme from 1,200 naira.

Diesel prices also climbed, with the product selling for as much as 2,300 naira per litre at some stations.

The increases will further strain household budgets and business operations.

Families already struggling with high energy and transportation costs face even greater pressure.

Diesel prices rose significantly across Lagos and Port Harcourt.

In Lagos, some depots raised their prices by between 20 and 170 naira per litre.

Eterna and Rain Oil sold at 2,000 naira per litre while Nipco’s price stood at 1,950 naira.

Similar increases hit Port Harcourt depots. In Warri, Matrix recorded the highest depot price at 2,120 naira per litre after raising its price by 40 naira.

Petrol prices stayed relatively stable in Lagos between 1,350 and 1,353 naira per litre.

Some filling stations in Calabar slightly reduced prices.

The rises will increase operating costs for manufacturers, transport companies, telecom firms and small businesses relying on diesel generators and vehicles.

Vice-President of the Oil and Gas Service Providers Association said the downstream sector remains unstable with prices continuing to fluctuate.

He blamed prolonged US-Iran tensions and warned prices could remain unstable for weeks.

Businesses are expected to pass the additional costs to consumers through higher prices for goods and services.
