Desola Afod, the ex-wife of movie director Kunle Afod, has publicly retracted her warning to Yoruba film practitioners.
Newsunplug reports that Desola has been facing backlash on social media after accusing Yoruba film practitioners of disrespecting her.
In her warning to the industry, the 44-year-old said many actors called her name without showing her respect.
Reacting to her comments, several actors, including Wumi Toriola, criticised her for calling out the entire industry instead of naming the person who allegedly disrespected her.
Wumi further advised her to change her surname from Afod to her father’s name, since she is no longer married to their colleague.
Speaking amid the criticism, Desola retracted her warning in a post on her Instagram page.
“Whatever statement I made generally concerning “Àwọn ọmọ Tíátíà”, I hereby retract and take it back. I don’t mean to generalise or refer to everyone in the industry. The few people that did me dirty know themselves.”
Responding to Wumi’s statement about her marriage, Desola said, “One thing remains unchanged: MY NAME IS STILL DESOLA AFOD, CELEB WIFE, TILL THE END OF TIME 100.”
