Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has taken a swipe at Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, after claiming that he transferred ₦1 million to him following a request for financial assistance.
Fayose made the claim while discussing his decision to ask people to submit their bank account details for a chance to receive ₦1 million.
According to him, some supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also submitted their account numbers, despite their political affiliation.
He alleged that Olayinka, who serves as Wike’s Senior Special Assistant, was among those who provided their bank details and claimed that he subsequently sent him ₦1 million.
“I told people to drop their account numbers for 1 million and APC supporters are also dropping their accounts. Wike’s SA, Lere Olayinka also dropped his account number and I sent 1M Naira to him. This is to show that APC supporters are hungry. They’re all supporting this govt but still hungry,” he said.
His remarks appeared aimed at questioning the economic circumstances of people who support the ruling party, suggesting that their willingness to seek financial assistance contradicts the public support they give the government.
