Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has questioned Pastor Arome Osayi’s claim of having been to heaven, expressing surprise at the reaction of the cleric’s followers to the revelation.
The actor raised questions about the pastor’s account, drawing a comparison with the biblical account of Jesus Christ’s death and ascension into heaven.
Speaking on the issue, Kanayo said: “If you’re a follower of Christ, what happened to Jesus? He died and ascended into heaven. Pastor Arome is still alive and telling you people that he went to heaven, and then his members are there clapping. Many are going to hell with their eyes open.”
His comments centred on the pastor’s claim and the willingness of his followers to accept it. Kanayo questioned why members of the congregation would applaud such a statement rather than critically examine what they had been told.
The actor’s remarks have brought attention to the subject of spiritual experiences and the importance of discernment among Christian believers.
While accounts of supernatural encounters often attract interest and differing interpretations, Kanayo’s statement reflects his concerns about the claim made by the cleric and the response it reportedly received from his followers.
