The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has returned the Africa Cup of Nations to a two-year cycle.
The decision was unanimously agreed during the CAF executive committee meeting on Thursday.
President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, recently announced at the continent’s strategy conference in Cabo Verde that the CAF Exco would be re-assessing and reconsidering the decision it took last year, for the AFCON to take place every four years.
CAF earlier proposed that the new Africa Nations League would replace the AFCON and take place every two years
The body, however, stated that the Africa Nations League would require several years in order to be in a position to be globally competitive and self-supporting.
Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda will co-host the next edition of the AFCON scheduled for 2027.
