West Ham United have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Nuno Espírito Santo with immediate effect following a disappointing start to their Championship campaign.
The club announced the decision on Tuesday, November 3, after reviewing the team’s performances and results this season. The Hammers believe a managerial change is necessary to keep their objectives and expectations on track.
Nuno’s departure comes after consecutive home defeats against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. West Ham currently sit eighth in the Championship table, having recorded six wins, four draws and three defeats in their opening 13 matches.
The Portuguese manager was appointed in September 2025 after replacing Graham Potter, but he was unable to prevent the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season. His departure also brings an end to the spells of assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa, who have both left the club.
Meanwhile, former West Ham captain Mark Noble, alongside Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville, will temporarily oversee preparations ahead of Wednesday’s Championship meeting with Cardiff City.
West Ham have confirmed that the process of appointing a new permanent head coach is already underway.
