The Rivers State governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has met with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan ahead of the February 2027 election.
The meeting reportedly took place at Jonathan’s residence in Bayelsa State, although details of their discussions have not been made public.
However, the meeting may not be unconnected with Lulu-Briggs’ efforts to secure political support ahead of the governorship election.
Lulu-Briggs is among the top three contenders for the state’s top political seat.
He will be contesting against candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Gabriel Pidomson, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kingsley Chinda.
His meeting with Jonathan comes amid recent remarks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, who dismissed his chances of winning the election.
Wike had declared Chinda the only candidate capable of winning the governorship poll, citing the support of the Rainbow Coalition.
