The abductors of 13 teenage female farmers in Borno State are demanding a ransom of N10 million, according to family members.

Recall that Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists abducted the victims while they were working on their family farms in Huyin District, Askira Uba Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, November 2025.

Speaking to Daily Trust on Tuesday, November 22, 2025, a relative of one of the abducted girls revealed that they had contacted one of the female farmers who was released.

“She didn’t escape; the abductors deliberately released her after realizing she was a breastfeeding mother,” he explained.

“Before she left, one of the abductors confiscated her phone and gave her a new SIM card, instructing her to insert it into a phone when she returned home.”

As soon as she inserted the SIM card, a call came in, and the abductors demanded a ransom of N10 million for the girls’ release.

He said this demand has put the community in a very difficult situation.

“We are a poor farming community struggling to meet our basic needs. Where can we find such a large sum to secure the release of these girls?” he lamented.

He appealed to the government and wealthy members of society to assist in facilitating the release of the young girls, who are currently suffering at the hands of their captors.

When contacted, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the spokesman for the Borno State Police Command, stated that he was unaware of the situation but promised to gather information and provide an update.

He also assured the community of the police’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of their children.
