Actor Deyemi Okanlawon Slammed Online for Mocking Upcoming ActorsPopular Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has faced heavy backlash online after posting a tweet that appeared to mock upcoming or unskilled actors seeking roles in the industry.
The controversy began when the actor wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Involve me, involve me… but you no sabi act!”
Many social media users interpreted the post as a condescending jab at those struggling to break into Nollywood, and they swiftly turned the criticism back onto the actor himself.
The backlash included personal attacks questioning his own talent and appearance:
One fan wrote: “You shouldn’t be the one tweeting this sha,” implying Okanlawon lacked the talent to criticize others.
User Semilore wrote: “Nothing special about acting though, even you no Sabi act.. What’s special about your acting style?”
User Fash commented: “Actors are suppose to be handsome How did you involve yourself”
Another user, Ladie, wrote angrily: “U wey sabi act, ur still managing youtube movies, an imbecile u are idiot”
However, some fans defended the actor, suggesting his post was taken out of context and meant to encourage higher standards of professionalism. User Sylvia stated: “It’s how y’all are coming Una this tweet to lie in broad daylight for me, una just wan feel among😂. Deyemi cannot act ke? Liarrrsssss”
