Ademola Lookman’s club side, Atalanta, have officially announced a new head coach following the dismissal of Ivan Juric.

Atalanta have officially named Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach, with the Italian tactician signing a contract that will keep him at the Bergamo-based club until June 2027.

The appointment follows swiftly after the dismissal of Ivan Juric, who was relieved of his duties less than 24 hours earlier following a disappointing run of results. Juric’s tenure came to an abrupt end after a 3-0 home defeat to Sassuolo over the weekend, a result that left Atalanta in 13th place in Serie A after 11 matches.

Juric, who took charge in June after Gian Piero Gasperini’s nine-year spell, failed to replicate the impressive performances that saw Atalanta finish third last season. Under his guidance, the team managed just two league wins and currently sit 11 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as first-team coach,” the club stated. “The club would like to thank Ivan Juric and his staff for their hard work and wish them success in their future endeavors.”

Palladino, who previously managed in Florence, has built a reputation for his progressive attacking philosophy and his focus on nurturing young players. Although his stint at Fiorentina ended amid internal disagreements, his innovative approach and tactical acumen have earned him respect within Italian football.

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi expressed confidence in the new appointment, praising Palladino’s energy, vision, and long-term commitment to the club’s development. “We believe Raffaele embodies the qualities needed to lead Atalanta into a new chapter of growth and success,” Percassi said.
