Nigeria’s Temitope Adeshina equalled the national women’s high jump record after clearing 1.97 metres to win the event at the Razorback Invitational, continuing her strong run of form this indoor season.

The Nigerian athlete produced the best jump of the competition to finish first ahead of Ghana’s Rose Yeboah, who placed second with a clearance of 1.94m.

Adeshina’s winning height matched the Nigerian record she already holds, placing her as one of the country’s leading high jumpers.

Competing in a competitive field, Adeshina was composed throughout the contest, successfully managing her attempts as the bar was raised.

Her 1.97m clearance ultimately proved decisive, separating her from the rest of the field and sealing victory.

The result marked the third time Adeshina has cleared 1.97m in her career. Her ability to repeatedly reach the same height has been one of the defining features of her recent outings.

Beyond matching the record, Adeshina also showed signs that a higher clearance may be within reach.

She made credible attempts at 2.00m, a height that would have set a new Nigerian record. While she was unable to clear it on this occasion, the quality of her jumps suggested the milestone is attainable in the near future.

Her performance at the Razorback Invitational adds to a series of solid results that point to steady technical improvement and physical readiness as the season progresses.
