Guinea-Bissau head coach, Baciro Cande has expressed disappointment with his side’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Djurtus ended their campaign in the competition on a disappointing note going down to a 1-0 defeat to Nigeria at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, on Monday night.

It was the West Africans third defeat in the competition.

Guinea-Bissau are yet to record a win at the AFCON finals since making their first appearance in 2017.

Cande accepted he side didn’t live up to expectations in Cote d’Ivoire.

“Three outings which all ended in defeats, these are not the results we were hoping for,” Cande told a press conference after the game.

“We did not show the true colors of Guinea Bissau, we were eliminated, that’s the game.

“Now we will get back to work and come back stronger.”
