Chippa United, the football club of Super Eagles,’ Stanley Nwabali, have made it clear they will support Nigeria in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nwabali saved two spot-kicks against South Africa in Wednesday’s semi-final, to ensure the Eagles qualify for the final.

Jose Peseiro’s men will now face hosts Ivory Coast in the final on Sunday.

Chippa United, in a statement today, said: “The club wishes to extend its congratulations to Stanley Nwabali for his extraordinary achievement in reaching the AFCON 2023 finals and for also earning the Man of the Match award.

“Our support for you remains steadfast. You have represented the Chippa United brand admirably, and we are immensely proud of you. We will be rooting for you in the Finals this Sunday against the host country, Côte d’lvoire.”

The Premier Soccer League, PSL, side came under criticism for choosing to support Nigeria against South Africa in the last four.
