Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has reacted to his selection as Coach of the Group Phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, on Friday unveiled the AFCON 2025 Group Stage Best X1.

Only one Super Eagles player, Ademola Lookman made the selection.

Chelle was named coach of the group stage after guiding his side to wins against Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.

The Super Eagles, and the Desert Foxes of Algeria are the only teams with hundred percent record from the  group stage.

They have also scored the highest number of goals (eight) in the competition.

Chelle said the recognition will motivate him, and his players.

“I am happy about this recognition. But I will like to give the credit to my backroom staff who work tirelessly to make the team function. This development is a good motivation for me, the players and the entire squad” the Malian told thenff.com.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles intensify preparations for their Round of 16 clash with the Mambas of Mozambique on Friday.

25 players took part in the closed door session.
