Tanzania head coach, Manuel Gomandi has praised his players for their resolute display against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.

The Taifa Stars lost 2-1 to Eric Chelle’s men in Fès on Tuesday night.

Gomandi’s side defended stoutly in the game, and also caused the Super Eagles defence problems a couple of times.

Tanzania conceded when Semi Ajayi nodded home Alex Iwobi’s cross in the 36th minute.

Kokola M’mombwa dragged them back into the game in the 50th minute, but Ademola Lookman netted the winner for Nigeria with a sublime effort two minutes later.

Gomandi thumbed up his players for their brave performance.

“The performance of my players was great even though we committed the mistake from the corner where we conceded the first goal,” Gomandi said during his interaction with the media after the game.”

The Taifa Stars will face regional rivals, Uganda in their next game on Saturday.
