Mozambique midfielder Manuel Kambala is confident the Mambas can upset the Super Eagles in their Round of 16 fixture at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Mambas have recorded just one win in three games at AFCON 2025.
The South Africans finished third in Group C behind Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
Mozambique picked one of the best third-placed spots in the six groups to earn a place in the knockout round.
The Super Eagles on the other hand won all their three group games in convincing fashion.
Eric Chelle’s men have also scored the highest number of goals in the competition (eight).
Kambala insisted that they are intimidated by the Super Eagles’ impressive run in the competition.
“I clearly believe we will advance with the team we have. We have already shown that on the field, we have already demonstrated that we are not just here to participate, we know it will not be an easy game.”
Mozambique have a poor record against the Super Eagles.
They have lost four and drawn one of their five encounters with the three-time African champions.
Nigeria won their only AFCON meeting in 2010 edition.
