Nigerian-born defender, Ime Okon, has been named in South Africa’s preliminary squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Okon is one of the 54 players that have been picked by head coach, Hugo Broos.
Broos will eventually cut the list to 24 players.
Okon was born to a Nigerian father and South African mother.
The 21-year-old has made five appearances for Bafana Bafana.
According to the South African Football Association, SAFA, the final squad would be named “in the coming days”.
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has given all participating teams a deadline of December 11, to name their final squads for the tournament.
