The Terenga Lions of Senegal have reached the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations ( AFCON) following an impressive victory over Mali in the quarter-finals.

Senegal delivered a masterclass performance in their quarter-final clash, showing the kind of maturity and tactical awareness that has become their trademark in recent tournaments. This victory keeps alive hopes of adding another continental title to their growing legacy.

Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye netted the only goal in the 27th minute of the game. On the other hand things went off the radar for Spurs Yves Bissouma got a red card in the added minutes from the first half after receiving a second yellow.

The lone goal in the tightly contested West African derby came in a match that saw Senegal continue their impressive run in Morocco.

The match itself was a tightly contested affair, with Senegal relying on defensive solidity and well-timed attacking moments to edge past stubborn opposition. Rather than dominating possession, the reigning giants focused on game management, pressing at the right moments and making their chances count when it mattered most.

This achievement is the result of consistent performances throughout the tournament. From the group stage to the knockout rounds, Senegal have shown resilience, depth, and an ability to adapt to different challenges.

As AFCON 2025 reaches its decisive stages, Senegal remain firmly in the hunt for continental glory as AFCON 2025 reaches its end.
