Senegal, on Wednesday, defeated Egypt to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, final in Morocco.
Al-Nassr forward Sadio Mane scored the game’s only goal of the encounter in the second half.
Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Mane, who won the man-of-the-match award, suggested that the Teranga Lions defeated Egypt because they avoided individual errors and also managed the game well.
“From the start, we did it together. We avoided making individual errors or committing unnecessary fouls. I think we managed the game well from start to finish and, overall, we deserved to win,” Mane said.
Similarly, Egypt coach, Hossam Hassan, admitted that Senegal progressed to the AFCON because they played well against the Pharaohs.
“I am really proud of my players, who really displayed good character against a tough opponent.
“Senegal played very well and I can’t take anything away from them as they played well today.”
Also, on his part, Senegal coach Pape Thiaw said his players were determined to win the match against the North Africans, and their determination showed on the pitch.
“We are very happy to have reached the final. It was not easy against a good side like Egypt. My players were determined to win the match, and their determination showed on the pitch,” Thiaw said.
