Former Premier League referee, Dermot Gallagher has told DR Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala to thank Senegal forward Sadio Mane after the conclusion of the AFCON final.

Gallagher spoke on Sky Sports News while sharing his thoughts on the AFCON final controversy between Senegal and Morocco.

Recall that Senegal players walked off the pitch after Ndala awarded Morocco a late penalty following a foul on Brahim Diaz.

But Mane displayed his leadership quality and called his teammates to return to the pitch and continue playing.

Edouard Mendy eventually saved Diaz’s penalty as Senegal went on to win the match 1-0 after 120 minutes, thanks to Pape Gueye’s goal in extra time.

Speaking on the development, Gallagher said: “He [Ndala] has got to thank Mane, he did a great job because he brought him back. I feel for the referee”
