Anambra State has taken over Nigeria’s beauty pageant scene after two of its daughters clinched the country’s top crowns for 2025.
Faith Ekwebenam emerged as Miss International Nigeria 2025, beating contestants from Lagos, Bauchi, Edo, Cross River, and Nasarawa at the grand finale on Sunday. She will represent Nigeria at the 63rd Miss International pageant in Tokyo, Japan, on November 27.
In another contest held in Lagos, Onyinyechi Basil was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, defeating Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, in a tense final showdown. Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, and Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, also made it to the top four.
The double win means Anambra now holds both of Nigeria’s leading international beauty crowns, a feat pageant watchers call “unprecedented.”
With Ekwebenam and Basil set to compete globally later this year, fans say Nigeria is ready to shine on the international stage.
