An angry mob have unleashed their fury on a suspected car thief in Akure, Ondo State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at 8:35 am on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Quarter Guard Junction.

According to reports, the suspect identified as Bashir jumped into a woman’s Nissan Sunny car and engaged her in a fierce struggle for control of the steering wheel while attempting to strangle her.

Her desperate screams drew the attention of passers-by who quickly rushed to her aid and apprehended the suspect.

The mob descended on the suspect and beat him to stupor.

Fortunately for the thief, officers of the Amotekun Corps arrived at the scene and rescued him from the irate mob.

Recounting her traumatic experience, the victim said, “I was in shock this morning while taking my boy to school. I was planning to get fuel for the car when I saw the suspect praying by the roadside. Suddenly, he flung open the door, pressed my throat, and fought for control of the steering wheel.”
