Ronald Araujo scored deep into stoppage time to hand Barcelona a dramatic 2-1 win over Girona in the Catalan derby at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Saturday.

The victory sends Hansi Flick’s men back to the top of the La Liga table.

Yamal and Pedri combineas Barça strike first

Returning youngster Lamine Yamal made an early impact for Barcelona, setting up Pedri in the 13th minute.

The midfielder showed composure inside the box, turning away from goal before finding the far corner off the post to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Araujo the unlikely hero

Girona wasted several clear chances to take the lead, and Barcelona capitalized late. In the final minute of added time, Frenkie de Jong’s low cross found Araujo, playing as an emergency striker, who slotted home to seal all three points and spark wild celebrations in Montjuïc.
