The head coach of Liverpool Arne Slot has opened up on the club’s recent struggles in the Premier League this season.

Slot admitted that Liverpool’s performances have not been up to the club’s standards, describing this season as his most difficult yet as a manager. He also pointed out that Liverpool have won just 1 of their last 7 league matches, with late goals costing them in games against teams like Fulham and Manchester City.

He said the psychological frustration of playing well but still losing has affected the team, and he’s trying to keep morale up while pushing for better results.

He continued,

“A draw feels like a loss at this club. That’s definitely not easy for players as well because they know what the standards of Liverpool mean, and we are not performing to the standards of Liverpool at the moment and they feel that disappointment. Every game it feels as though we are going to win it but it doesn’t happen. (the players) feel performance-wise that they can compete with any other team in any league in the world. But the reality is that we don’t perform to Liverpool standards.”

What does Slot think of Liverpool’s chances of Champions League qualification?

Slot stressed that missing out on the Champions League would be unacceptable for a club of Liverpool’s stature, both competitively and financially. He acknowledged the poor run of results despite heavy investment in the squad.

Liverpool have been in bad form and are currently in sixth place behind Manchester United and Chelsea respectively. The club’s supporters will hope for a better form going into the rest of the season.
