Arsenal Football Club have released a statement on the injury situation of its captain Martin Ødegaard who was withdrawn from Norway’s team ahead of the second international break of the season.

Martin Ødegaard picked up the injury in the first half of the game against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This is a big worry to Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta who has seen his captain struggle with injury since the beginning of the 2025/26 season.

What did Arsenal say about the injury to Martin Ødegaard?

Arsenal comfirmed in a statement that Ødegaard picked up a ligament injury in his left knee during the victory over West Ham United.

The statement read,

“Martin Odegaard has been withdrawn from the Norway national team for their upcoming matches against Israel and New Zealand after sustaining a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee during the first half in Saturday’s win over West Ham United. Martin will continue to be assessed and treated by our medical team at Sobha Realty Training Centre during the international window, with the aim of a return to action as soon as possible.”

Martin Odegaard was left with his knee in a brace and Declan Rice was forced off with a back problem as Arsenal’s injury issues intensified during their 2-0 win over West Ham.

Who are the players on Arsenal injury list?

The Gunners are already without Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz, Piero Hincapie and Gabriel Jesus, while William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Ben White and Christian Norgaard have also had their share of injury this season.

Arsenal supporters will hope some ot these players can return before their next Premier League game.
