Inter vice-president, Javier Zanetti has named Lionel Messi as the player that deserves to win the Ballon d’Or this year.
Zanetti said Messi deserved to win the 2023 Ballon d’Or after he managed to fulfil his dream of winning a FIFA World Cup.
The Inter Milan legend said this while speaking with PlanetWin365 when asked to name his Ballon d’Or pick for this year.
“I think [Lionel] Messi deserves it because he managed to fulfil his dream of winning the World Cup as an absolute protagonist,” Zanetti said.
He added, “In my opinion, he has been the best for several years.”
Messi recently led Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar last December.
The former Barcelona captain recently announced his decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain for MLS side Inter Miami.
The 36-year-old has won the Ballon d’Or seven times in the past.
