Barcelona manager, Xavi, has named captain Sergio Busquets as the best midfielder he has ever seen in the game of football.

Xavi also insisted that it was unfair that Busquets was not nominated for the Ballon d’Or in his career.

Busquets has confirmed his plan to leave Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of June.

The 34-year-old will consider his options before making a call on whether to join a new club or retire from football this summer.

When asked about the legacy Busquets will leave at Barcelona, Xavi said, as per Marca, “For me, Busquets is the best midfielder I have ever seen. The most intelligent I’ve seen in my career.

“It seems unfair that he was not nominated for the Ballon d’Or.”

Busquets will leave Barcelona as the Blaugrana’s third-highest appearance maker, with only Xavi and Lionel Messi above him on the list.

The 2022/2023 La Liga title will be Busquets’ 32nd major title as a Barca player, and he will match Messi’s ten league title tally in the coming weeks.
