Bandits attack Kwara community, k!ll forest guard and set motorcycles ablaze

Suspected bandits have reportedly k!lled a forest guard identified as Samuel during a violent attack on Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026 after forest guards received intelligence about a possible invasion by armed men believed to be bandits

The operatives were said to have moved into the community area to pre-empt the attack when they were ambushed by the assailants.

However, during the encounter, Samuel was reportedly shot d3ad during the ambush.

Residents said the attackers, who were heavily armed, later set more than five motorcycles ablaze

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Kwara State Police Command.

Following the incident, Koro has been placed on high alert. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements to security authorities.

Communities sharing boundaries with Koro including Egbe, Ogbe, and Oke-Ere in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State have also been urged to exercise caution.
