Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for Jules Kounde despite the defender recently signing a long-term contract extension, according to reports.
The France international, who committed his future to the club until 2030 last summer, is no longer considered untouchable within the squad.
Shift in status under Flick
Kounde’s standing has reportedly changed under head coach Hansi Flick, with inconsistent performances and tactical adjustments influencing the decision.
The defender has often been deployed at right-back rather than his preferred centre-back role, where he built his reputation.
The 25-year-old had previously explained his decision to join Barcelona over Chelsea, citing assurances from former manager Xavi Hernandez
“I enjoyed our conversation. Time flew by, and that’s always a good sign when you’re talking so naturally,” Kounde said.
He added: “I chose Barca because I know that most of the time I will play in this position [centre-back].
Injury setback and transfer interest
Kounde is currently sidelined with a muscle injury sustained during a recent match against Atletico Madrid.
A club statement confirmed the issue, noting: “After tests carried out… it was revealed that the French defender has an injury to the mid-third of the biceps femoris muscle in his left hamstring. His recovery will dictate his return to action.”
The injury adds to a difficult campaign for the defender, who has struggled for form this season.
Interest in Kounde has emerged previously, with Manchester City making enquiries last summer. However, sporting director Deco clarified that no formal offer was submitted.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, currently leading La Liga ahead of Real Madrid, are expected to assess any incoming bids as they balance squad planning with financial considerations.
